Obverse: IMP C M Q TRAIANVS DECIVS AVG. Radiate and cuirassed bust of Trajan Decius to right, seen from behind. Three dots below bust.
Reverse: VICTORIA AVGG. Victory running right, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond over her left shoulder.
Very rare issue struck on the Antioch mint in the short time period between Herennius' promotion to Augustus in 251 and his death in battle against the Goths that same year. Not included on RIC IV-3 nor on Cohen, with only TWO specimens auctioned in the last 20 years: one in 2011 (EF/EF-, 350 USD plus auction fee) and other in 2022 (VF or a bit better, 620 USD plus auction fee). Really an exceptional choice!
VF+/EF condition, conserving complete details on both sides. Precious reverse.
RIC -, Cohen -. Antioch mint, June-July AD 251. 3,9 g - 22 mm
