Laureate head on the left., Imperial coat of arms on a crowned mantle and on the sceptre and the hand of justice, flanked by 1-F, Graded NGC MINT ERROR MS66 REVERSE DIE CAP. A fascinating and spectacular specimen of this coin, which came to us in a state of conservation that is a true gem! This faulted franc has probably been isolated after the strike and has probably never circulated. We are dealing here with reverse die cap. The flan seems to have been struck a second time with a lack of obverse die. This second strike caused the flan to widen to 28 millimeters, which crushed into a bowl under the impact of the reverse die. The edge went up to form the rim of the bowl while the obverse enlarged by about 20%., NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR, EMPIRE FRANÇAIS / 1867
