Shahada and mention of Ali in the center, prayer, blessing on the Prophet, and names of the twelve Imams around it, all in Arabic., Within a quatrefoil, title and name of the issuer, prayer in Arabic; name of the sultan in Uyghur on the left, sura 30 verse 4 on the right, mint and date below in Arabic., Album 2182, type B. Struck at the mint of Ahlat (written Khilat on the coin), located in Armenia. Former capital of the district of Bzunik, in eastern Anatolia. The famous Geographer Hamdallah Mostawfi refers to this city in his book (Nozhat al-qolub) and mentions that "under the Il-khanids, the revenus of Aklat amounted to 51,500 dinars" (cf. C.E. Bosworth, "Aklat", Encyclopaedia Iranica, I/7, p. 725-727). Despite of its importance during the XIVth century, coins minted from the location of Ahlat are very rarely encountered, and this specimen seems to be the only one in gold known to us, all dynasties confounded.
