Coins similar to those of the Vandal Kingdom but with much cruder styles and with dots or lozenges rather than actual legends are probably not official issues of the Vandal Kingdom, but rather imitations of a neighboring barbarous tribe (possibly the Mauri). This type is probably based on the issues of the Vandalic King Thrasamund.
