Carl Wilhelm Becker (1772-1830) is one of the most famous coin counterfeiters, who also sold his works to Geheimrath Goethe. To "age" his creations, he often put them in a sack with chips and dirt and tied it to the axle of a carriage. He called this "driving out his old masters".
