The bust of Carnoy is featured with "FUNDATOR" above, "C. Carnoy" below the bust, and "HLANNOY" to the left. On the reverse side, in the center within a raised circle, is a large "M" with a "W" beneath it, surrounded by "1908 – 1983" at the top and two stylized laurel branches at the bottom.
The Carnoy company was founded in 1908 and is located on Afrikalaan in Ghent. Carnoy specializes in the production and assembly of metal pipe structures. The business also involves wholesale trade in plumbing and heating installation materials. In 1970, the German conglomerate Mannesmann acquired the family-owned company. The 75th anniversary of the company was celebrated in 1983. In 1999, the German group sold the company to the Dutch Coop group.
