Historical context:
Deze medaille eert Louis Joseph Seutin (1793–1862), de Belgische legerchirurg en uitvinder van de ‘amovo-inamovible’-methode, een innovatieve benadering voor het verbinden van breuken. In tegenstelling tot de andere versie van deze medaille, benadrukt dit exemplaar de internationale verspreiding van Seutins methode, met vermelding van de voornaamste Europese medische centra waar zijn techniek werd ingevoerd. De vermelding van steden als Parijs, Constantinopel en Sint-Petersburg getuigt van zijn aanzien en invloed in de medische wereld. Het ontwerp is wederom van Léopold Wiener.
