Historical context:
This commemorative tin medal was issued for the 1866 Nordic Industrial Exhibition held in Stockholm. It highlighted industrial and cultural achievements from across Scandinavia, reinforcing economic cooperation between Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. The obverse shows Crown Prince Oscar, who would become King Oscar II in 1872. The design is by Lea Ahlborn, Sweden’s pioneering royal medallist and one of Europe’s first official female artists.
