Obverse:
Winged female figure of Victory standing between symbols of trade, industry and prosperity. To the left a ship, factory chimneys and a cornucopia; to the right a city skyline with the Dom Tower and other Utrecht buildings. In the lower right field the association’s monogram shield. Around: “VEREENIGING VAN HANDELAREN IN BOUWMATERIALEN IN NEDERLAND”.

Reverse:
Blank inscription field within an oak wreath, later inscribed: “1912 / 1937 / MAART”.

Historical Context:
This bronze award medal was issued by the Vereeniging van Handelaren in Bouwmaterialen in Nederland, an association founded in 1905 for Dutch merchants in building materials. The obverse combines commercial and industrial imagery: shipping, factories, prosperity and Victory, all referring to trade, enterprise and economic success. The Utrecht skyline, including the Dom Tower, reflects the association’s Utrecht connection.

The reverse inscription “1912–1937 / MAART” indicates a 25-year award or jubilee presentation, probably for long membership, service or merit within the association. Since no personal name is engraved, the medal may have been presented together with a document or case identifying the recipient.
