Obverse: Crowned coat of arms, with the letters “S” and “C” at left and right. The shield shows, among other elements, four lions in quarters and a stylised tree in the lower part.
Reverse: Plain field with incuse inscription: “HERDENKING / BLIJDE INKOMSTE / 1356–1956 / ’s-Hertogenbosch / 29-12-56.”
Historical context: The medal commemorates the 600th anniversary of the Blijde Inkomst of 1356. This charter was issued by Johanna of Brabant and Wenceslaus of Luxemburg and became one of the most important constitutional documents of medieval Brabant. The inscription on this specimen records a commemoration at ’s-Hertogenbosch on 29 December 1956.
