The 5 Taka banknote issued by Bangladesh in 2022 commemorates Muhibur Rahman and features iconic elements of the country's history and culture. The face value of this banknote is 5 Taka.
On the front of the banknote is a portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a central political figure in Bangladesh, often referred to as the "Father of the Nation." He is recognized for his pivotal role in the independence of Bangladesh. Next to his portrait is the National Martyrs' Memorial, a monument erected in memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the 1971 Liberation War, a founding event of the Bangladeshi nation. The inscriptions on this side of the banknote are in Bengali.
The back of the banknote depicts the Kusumba Mosque, located in the Naogaon district. Built in 1558-59, this mosque is a national heritage site of Bangladesh, recognized for its architectural and historical significance. It is sometimes nicknamed "the black jewel of Bangladesh." The inscriptions on the back are also in Bengali.
The watermark of the banknote incorporates a portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as well as the logo of Bangladesh Bank, the issuing institution. This banknote is a visual testament to the history and cultural identity of Bangladesh.
