This 100 Burundian Franc banknote, issued by the Bank of the Republic of Burundi, dates from September 1, 2011, and belongs to the RV series. It features inscriptions in French and Kirundi.
On the front, the banknote highlights the portrait of Louis Rwagasore, a prominent figure as the first Prime Minister of Burundi. It also features the inscriptions "BANQUE DE LA REPUBLIQUE DU BURUNDI" and "IBANKI YA REPUBLIKA Y'BURUNDI", repeated in both official languages. The national motto, "UBUMWE IBIKORWA AMAJAMBERE" (Unity, Work, Progress), is also present. The signatures of the 2nd Vice-Governor and the Governor are affixed, with the issue date of May 1, 2010. The face value, "CENT FRANCS" and "AMAFARANGA IJANA", is clearly indicated, accompanied by the number "100".
The back of the banknote is mainly purple, with multicoloured underprints. The central scene depicts four men engaged in the construction of a house. The coat of arms of Burundi is visible in the lower left, while a banana tree (Musa sp.) is depicted on the right. It also features the inscriptions "BANQUE DE LA REPUBLIQUE DU BURUNDI" and "IBANKI YA REPUBLIKA Y'BURUNDI". A legal warning is included: "LE CONTREFACTEUR EST PUNI DE SERVITUDE PENALE" and "UWUZOKWIGANA IYI NOTI AZOFUNGWA". The national motto "UBUMWE, IBIKORWA, AMAJAMBERE" is repeated, followed by its French translation "UNITE - TRAVAIL - PROGRESS". The face value "100" is displayed.
