 Grand Duke Henri's accession to the throne in October 2000 coincided with the turn of the millennium. On October 7 of that year, he succeeded Grand Duke Jean and was sworn in before the Chamber of Deputies. Representing the State, he is the symbol of the unity of the territory and Luxembourg's national independence. Throughout his reign, Grand Duke Henri has always defended the values of tolerance, respect, dignity and solidarity.
