This Brazilian banknote, with a face value of 10 centavos over 100 Cruzeiros, was issued in 1967, during the New Cruzeiro period (1967-1970). It belongs to series 967A and bears the stamp 2A.
The obverse of the banknote, printed in red on a polychrome base, combines chalcography and offset techniques. The central element is a portrait of Dom Pedro II, framed in a decorative motif. On either side of the portrait, the number "100" is found. A round stamp displays the words "BANCO CENTRAL - 10 CENTAVOS". The inscriptions include "REPÚBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL", "TESOURO NACIONAL", "BANCO CENTRAL", "CEM CRUZEIROS", as well as the mentions "DIRETOR", "CAIXA DE AMORTIZAÇÃO", and "MINISTRO DA FAZENDA". The designation "D.PEDRO II" also appears, as well as the mention "VALOR LEGAL". The printer, Thomas de la Rue & Company, Limited, London, is mentioned.
The reverse of the banknote, also printed in red on polychrome, presents an allegorical representation of national culture, inspired by a painting by Cadmo Fausto de Souza. The number "100" is repeated on each side of the central composition, as well as the inscriptions "REPÚBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL" and "CULTURA NACIONAL". The name of the printer, Thomas de la Rue & Company, Limited, London, is also present.
