This collector's coin is issued by France in 2025 and has a face value of 10 euros. It is struck in silver, weighing 13 grams and with a diameter of 31 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin depicts the planet Mars, appearing in the open palm of an astronaut. The background consists of a starry sky. This composition suggests a perspective from inside the astronaut's helmet, as if he were holding the planet in his hand to observe it closely. Along the edge, we can read the inscriptions "6 794 km" and "24h40", which correspond respectively to the diameter of Mars and its period of rotation.
The reverse of the coin features the face value, framed by two branches, one of oak and the other of laurel, symbolizing the Euro symbol. The entire design is surrounded by the words "République Française" and an assembly of lines representing the Hexagon.
The coin is presented in a blister pack illustrated with drawings signed by Romain Hugault. The inside of this blister pack contains detailed scientific information about Mars, while the back includes a text written by Thomas Pesquet.
