Superb German commemorative coin minted in 1991 for the 200th anniversary of the Brandenburg Gate (1791–1991), an iconic Berlin monument and symbol of Germany's reunited unity.
The obverse features the federal eagle with the inscription BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND · 1991 · 10 DEUTSCHE MARK · A. The reverse depicts the famous gate topped by the Quadriga, with the inscriptions SYMBOL DER DEUTSCHEN EINHEIT and DAS BRANDENBURGER TOR. The smooth edge bears the inscription DEUTSCHLAND EINIG VATERLAND.
Engraved by Erich Ott. Medal alignment (↑↑). Demonetized on December 31, 2001, this coin is now strictly a collector's item. Note: its fine silver value (9.688 g) is close to its numismatic value, making it doubly interesting for collectors.
