The Australian 2013 Kangaroo 20th Anniversary gold coin is one of the most attractive modern anniversary issues in the field of international collector gold coins. It was issued to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Kangaroo Series, which originated in 1993. At the same time, it is a distinctly numismatic issue, as the coin combines the classic Australian motif with a strictly limited proof strike in 1 ounce of fine gold.

The motif of the leaping kangaroo is particularly appealing, returning in a traditional style for this anniversary edition. The reverse features Horst Hahne’s original Bounding Kangaroo design, giving the issue its clear anniversary character. The obverse depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II after Ian Rank-Broadley. Furthermore, the coin was minted by the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra, distinguishing it from the more familiar kangaroo issues produced by the Perth Mint.

With a mintage of only 500 pieces, this issue is among the rarest modern 1-ounce gold coins from Australia. Furthermore, it boasts the highest possible numerical condition for a proof coin, NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo. This makes it a particularly compelling example, combining limited availability, an attractive anniversary connection, and top-notch certification. The certificate number is 3684185-172.
