The 100 Francs gold coin from Burundi was minted in 1967 to commemorate the first anniversary of the Republic. With a mintage of only 2,000, it is one of the rare modern gold issues from Burundi and also the largest gold coin in the five-part series.

The front features a portrait of Michel Micombero , the first president of the Republic of Burundi. The inscriptions “REPUBLIQUE DU BURUNDI” and “PRESIDENT MICHEL MICOMBERO” surround the portrait. Below the portrait is the national motto “UNITE – TRAVAIL – PROGRES”.

The reverse side features the coat of arms of Burundi. The inscription “I ANNIVERSAIRE DE LA REPUBLIQUE” and the dates 1966-1967 commemorate the first anniversary of the Republic. The face value of 100 francs is indicated below the coat of arms.

The coin is made of 900/1000 gold , has a total weight of 32.00 g and contains 28.80 g of pure gold . Its diameter is 35 mm.

The coin offered here has been certified by NGC as PF68 Ultra Cameo and is currently Top Pop . Only three coins in the NGC Population are listed as PF68 Ultra Cameo ; there are no higher-graded examples. This makes it one of the highest-graded examples of this issue currently available from NGC.
