MA-SHOPS uses secure servers to protect your personal information (name and address). This is generally more secure than your data transmitted by telephone.
Transmission occurs via a SSL connection. SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer and describes a transport protocol that was developed to enhance the usual standard Internet protocols to a considerable safety advantage. An SSL connection is called a secure connection due to three main
characteristics:
1) Content is transmitted in encrypted form.
2) The corresponding SSL server is identified and remains fixed during the connection.
3) Various algorithms will ensure that all data will be transmitted completely and unchanged.

The most popular browsers in current versions are capable of SSL connections. The first connection to a secure server (indicated by https) your browser will request a certificate and a key. On this key and an ID, both tested with corresponding checksums, the connection to the server will be etsblished and continued. The browser will continue using these data continuously will ensure that it is really connected to the correct server. Before the browser presents the connection to the user as a valid test, the browser check the server by inquiry of data.
