Louis X the Quarrelsome (1314–1316)
Son of Philip IV the Fair, Louis X, known as “the Quarrelsome,” ascended to the throne in a tense context. Although brief, his reign was marked by decisive actions, including the partial abolition of serfdom. Political conflicts and court intrigues dominated these turbulent two years. His premature death at the age of 26 triggered a dynastic crisis that would lead to the gradual end of the direct Capetian line.
