Historical Context:
Struck in 1930 for the 100th anniversary of Belgian independence, this medal honors national unity and constitutional monarchy. It features Leopold II, the reigning king during the 75th anniversary in 1905, as a link between past and present. Designed by Godefroid Devreese, the medal unites royal portraiture with allegorical symbolism typical of early 20th-century patriotic art.
