German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt died in 2015 and his country is paying tribute to him with this commemorative €2 coin for 2018, which celebrates the centenary of his birth. He is shown in a characteristic pose. The inscription "HELMUT SCHMIDT" and the dates "1918-2015" appear on the right. The mint mark of the mint concerned appears below these dates. On the left-hand side is the issuing country code "D" and below it the year of issue "2018". The artist's initials appear at the bottom.
