The 1 centime franc coin, minted in 1981, is a French divisional coin. It comes from Fleur de Coin (FDC) sets, which indicates a superior minting quality and optimal conservation state.
This coin is made of stainless steel, giving it a silver color and resistance to corrosion. It weighs 1.65 grams and has a diameter of 15 millimeters, with a thickness of 1.45 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features a central motif representing an ear of wheat. The inscription "république française" is engraved in cursive script around the ear of wheat. The engraver of this face is Marcel Guilleminet. It is worth noting that some coins have a particularity: a rim, or outgrowth of material, visible at the base of the right leaf of the ear of wheat.
The reverse of the coin displays the nominal value, the number "1", surrounded by the date of issue "1981" and the monetary unit "centime", also in cursive script. Marcel Guilleminet is also the designer of this face.
The edge of the coin is smooth, without inscriptions or motifs.
This coin, due to its stainless steel composition, its low weight and its small diameter, is one of the smallest denominations in circulation at that time. Its conservation state, from an FDC set, makes it a prized collector's item.
