This banknote is a French assignat worth five livres, issued on 10 Brumaire of Year II (October 31, 1793) of the Republican calendar. It is a type of paper money used during the French Revolution.
The front of the banknote features a centered textual composition. The face value, "Cinq Livres", is highlighted. It also includes the date of issue and the national motto of the French Republic: "Unité Indivisibilité de la République, Liberté Egalité Fraternité ou la Mort" (Unity Indivisibility of the Republic, Liberty Equality Fraternity or Death). Legal notices are present, including a warning against counterfeiting, punishable by death, and an incentive for denunciation, rewarded by the Nation.
The back of the banknote is blank. A watermark is integrated into the paper, representing the value "5" and the monogram "RF" (République Française) inscribed in a circle.

A dry stamp is affixed to the lower left of the assignat. This stamp, with a diameter of 26 mm, represents the Genius of the Constitution seated. He leans on the statue of Artemis (symbol of Nature) on the right and on the Tables of the Law on the left, where one can read "DROIT DE L'HOM" (Right of Man). This dry stamp was engraved by GATTEAUX.
