The official recoinage of the 2024 silver 'Scheepjesschelling' is now available! Every year, the Royal Dutch Mint strikes popular historical coins, such as the "Scheepjesschelling". In 2024 they carry out a new minting of the Gelderland Scheepjesschelling, minted in 1706.
The "Scheepjesschelling" is a Dutch shilling that was minted to highlight the status of the Dutch Republic. This shilling was especially popular with Eastern trade. That is why it was given the name “Scheepjesschelling”. This 2 ounce Silver Proof issue comes presented in luxurious packaging that includes a certificate of authenticity.
