The collection of coins and medals formed by D. Manuel Vidal Quadras y Ramón is not a simple collection of coins, more or less important, gathered without any scientific plan, it is the complete history of Spain from the earliest historical times, written in truthful pages metallic.

The catalog is arranged by Mr. Vidal Quadras in a rigorous chronological order, an order that I recognize is essential for the study of ancient coins and medals, but which I believe causes confusion for our coins from the Middle Ages and modern; To avoid this inconvenience, the author has formed the indexes by series, indicating the catalog numbers that correspond to each series, thus facilitating the knowledge and study of the precious things that he owns.

The eighty-seven plates that illustrate this work present faithfully reproduced hundreds of very rare coins, many of them of equal or greater rarity having ceased to be reproduced because they were drawn in works by various authors."
