Historical Context:
This medal commemorates the royal wedding of Queen Wilhelmina and Prince Hendrik, solemnised on 7 February 1901. Created by sculptor Pier Pander, the design fuses symbolism and subtle Jugendstil elements. The reverse allegory—showing the royal couple sailing forward—emphasises unity and shared purpose in monarchy.
